Dolph Lundgren told the TV show “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” that the first tumor in his kidneys was discovered in 2015 and was successfully operated on. After that, the actor performed all necessary preventive examinations every six months, and later once a year. “Everything was fine for five years,” he says.
In 2020, the actor went to see a doctor in Sweden because new symptoms had appeared. As a result of the examinations, six neoplasms were discovered, one of which could not be operated due to its large size. Therefore, the actor has started systematic therapy. In 2021, the situation worsened: the number of tumors and their locations in various organs increased. According to the actor, it became clear that “everything is much worse than we thought”.
“The doctor started talking about the different tumors outside the kidneys, which are in the lungs, stomach and spine, for example. He started saying something like, ‘You should probably take a break and spend more time with your family,’ and in that vein. I asked him, ‘How much do you think I have left?’ He said two or three years, but I understood from the doctor’s voice that he probably meant less,” recalls Dolph Lundgren.
The actor consulted another doctor in London who concluded that the mutations in his kidney tumor were similar to the lung tumor. The doctor decided to treat it like lung cancer. “If I had stayed with the first method of treatment, I would have had about three or four months left to live,” says Lundgren, admitting that the second – new – method of treatment helped significantly. “2022. year was basically a year of observing how these drugs do their job. Eventually, the tumor shrank to about 90%. I am currently in the process of removing the remaining scar tissue from these tumors,” says the actor. “It is predicted that when they are removed, hopefully there will be no more cancer activity and the medicine I will be taking will suppress everything else.”
