Dolly Parton used Whitney Houston royalties to invest in black community – Marseille News

Dolly Parton threw the major dough, she collected the success of one of the Whitney Houston‘s biggest hits – an interpretation of Dolly, without a doubt – in a black community in Tennessee… something that doesn’t seem to have been known, until now.

The singer made the reveal this week during an appearance on ‘WWHL’ with Andy Cohen, where he asked her… what was the best thing she had invested in with the royalties she had received from Whitney’s version of “I’ll Always Love You”… originally sung by DP.

Dolly gave a pretty amazing response… because it seems like it’s something no one ever bothered to ask, but she was happy to share. Check out his answer for yourself in the clip.

She tells Andy that out of the money she made from royalties – about $ 10 million or so, in the 90s – she ended up investing a decent amount of money in an office / mall complex “off the beaten track. ”From 16th Avenue in Nashville (a famous street near downtown).

Most importantly, Dolly notes that this was a part of town where mostly black people lived – and she felt there was no better place to be, as there was among the people of Whitney. … And Dolly’s people too, as she points out. It’s unclear if Dolly has grown more there over the years … but anyway, she almost certainly left some sort of overall economic impact with her spending.

It’s unclear exactly where Dolly’s property resides… but it looks like she could still use it all these years later. And, crazier still – she never really talked about it until Andy told her about it, it seems. As many point out, it’s just Dolly for you.

Another thing worth mentioning about Whitney and Dolly – during a fan Q&A segment, one person asked if there was ever a plan for Dolly to perform ‘I Will Always’ alongside Whitney, like in a duet version or something… and it just never happened. Very good question, as Andy notes.

His response is both astonishing and a little annoying… if you are a fan of either artist.

Long story short, Dolly just says … no, because NOBODY EVER ASKED HER TO DO IT, although she adds that she would gladly have agreed to sing the song next to Whitney, assuming someone had it. approached about it. Talk about a missed opportunity, huh ???

As for how she thinks she would have stood up to WH’s legendary pipes… it’s also telling. Dolly is still so gracious here.
