Dolj County Sees Sporadic Flu Cases

Flu and​ Respiratory Illness Surge in Romanian County

A​ recent uptick in flu and respiratory infections has been reported in Dolj County, Romania, prompting health officials to monitor the situation closely. ⁤ The Dolj Public health Directorate’s latest bulletin reveals a concerning trend, with a significant number of cases reported in the past week.

According to the report, 1,319 cases of​ acute ⁤upper respiratory tract infections⁤ (AURTIs) were confirmed, along with 444 cases ‌of⁢ acute pneumopathy. ⁣ While only two cases of influenza, ‌specifically influenza virus ⁢type A, were confirmed ⁣via rapid testing, the overall numbers point to a concerning increase in respiratory illnesses.The total number of respiratory virus and flu cases reached 1,765, slightly lower than the previous week’s total of 1,837.

the incidence rates paint a clearer picture: 194.18 per ⁤100,000 for AURTIs, 0.29 per‌ 100,000 for influenza, and 65.36 per⁣ 100,000⁤ for pneumopathy. Hospitalizations⁢ accounted for 19.43% of all cases. Despite⁤ the relatively low number of confirmed flu cases, the overall increase in respiratory illnesses warrants attention.

The Dolj Public health Directorate (DSP Dolj) offered insight into the vaccination efforts: ‍ “Regarding the anti-influenza vaccination of‌ the population from risk groups, it is‍ carried out according to Ord. MS ⁢3120/2023,through the prescription,release and settlement under ⁢the compensation regime of immunological drugs in family doctors’ offices. Until this date, the number of people vaccinated in Dolj county is 54,089. Since there ⁣is evidence of the circulation ‍of flu viruses in ‍the population,we characterize the ⁣week as sporadic flu activity,” ⁤states DSP Dolj.
