Dolce Vita investigation, lawyer Petrillo: “Serious accusations such as misdirection and corruption have been dismissed for Festa”

“The sentences of the Supreme Court have weakened many of the hypotheses of accusations made against the former mayor Festa and in particular have weakened the most serious ones”. The day after the filing of the reasons by the Court of Cassation, the lawyer Luigi Petrillo, trusted defender of the former mayor Gianluca Festa, summons the press to his office in Piazza D’Armi.

“Now we await the decisions of the Prosecutor’s Office which will be able – continues the well-known criminal lawyer – to also insist on contesting these hypotheses of crime and in the event that it does so we will have the possibility of boasting in our defense the decisions of the Supreme Court of Cassation which are very authoritative”.

“If we were in a football match, facing each other between teams, I would say that the outcomes of these two sentences are absolutely favorable for our defense. We overturned a first half in which we conceded and now, I’m not saying that we can manage the match in the best possible way, but at least we can face the prosecutor’s accusations with many tricks up our sleeves” and we were in a football match and teams faced each other, I I would say that the outcomes of these two sentences are absolutely favorable for Festa’s defense.

Regarding the wiretaps, the defender of the former mayor Festa specifies “we have denounced the illegitimacy of the wiretaps, but the Supreme Court did not rule on our complaint because it considered that it could not go into the merits of the individual wiretaps because it is an evaluation of merit. In fact it leaves us free to re-present the same reasons to report to the judge of merit who will follow.”

The lawyer reiterates that “Festa should not have been arrested, the orders are illegitimate and the first one has been completely dismantled and it is the judges of the Court of Cassation who support him.”

In conclusion, the lawyer Petrillo hopes that “a conclusion will soon be reached in the investigations which have now lasted for over a year, from 31 August 2023, to arrive in the courtroom as soon as possible after the appropriate in-depth analysis by the public prosecutor”.
