Dokdo Day commemorates the decision by King Gojong of the Korean Empire to establish Dokdo as a subsidiary island of Ulleungdo on October 25, 1900.

And the current situation is that in March 2023, the representative of the Democratic Party of Korea proposed an amendment to designate ‘Dokdo Day’ as a legal memorial day.
