This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will be hosted by Doja Cat, with the 25-year-old artist set to announce music videos and performances while also taking the stage to share some of her music. This will be her first performance as a host.

The singer is no stranger to VMAs, having won the Moon Person award for best new artist in 2020 and also performed a mix of her songs “Say So” and “Like That” during the broadcast.
Other artists joining Doja cat at the VMAs will include Camila Cabello, Chlöe, Lil Nas X, Lorde, Machine Gun Kelly, Shawn Mendes, and Olivia Rodrigo.
A new surprise for this year’s VMAs also includes a newly designed Moon Person statue for the awards.
“This year’s awards will debut with a newly redesigned Moonperson statue by artist Kehinde Wiley, and will also honor the victims of the September 11 attacks by collaborating with the nonprofit September 11 Day on a series of events to promote the awareness and positive action around the day’s 20th anniversary, ”according to MTV.
Doja Cat is also set to make VMS history with five VMA nominations. This will be the first year the host has also been nominated for multiple videos. Other top nominated artists are Justin Bieber with seven nominations and Megan Thee Stallion with six.
BTS, Billie Eilish, Giveon, Drake, Lil Nas X, and Olivia Rodrigo are tied with Doja Cat for five nominations.
The show will air at 8 pm EST on September 12 and will take place at the Barclays Center in New York.
