Doha, Indian Wells and now Miami. Šwiateková completed a trio of trophies from the WTA 1000 events!

Each Šwiateková she has not lost 17 games in a row in the last month and a half. After Doha and Indian Wells, she did not find a winner in Miami either and was the first tennis player in history to win the first three tournaments of the season in the prestigious WTA 1000 category.

During this series, the 20-year-old Polka gave seven rivals to the canary. In Miami, she lost only 26 games in six duels and has not lost 20 in a row.

Not even the Japanese stopped her in Florida in today’s final Naomi Ósakaova. Šwiateková, four years older than the former world number one, managed in an hour and 20 minutes and won 6-4 6-0.

Šwiateková adjusted her magnificent balance in the final matches to 12-1 (6-1 on the WTA circuit and 6-0 on the ITF circuit). She suffered the only defeat in her first final at the WTA Clay Tournament in Lugano, 2019, Switzerland, where the then 17-year-old tennis player lost to Polone Hercog.

Since then, the winner of the 2019 Roland Garros in the final duels has not lost 12 sets in a row, she has not lost a game in four of them.

Šwiateková will become the first Polish and historically 28th world number one. She will move to the top of the list after Australian Ashleigh Barty ends her career.

‘Sunshine Double’ – triumphs in Miami and Indian Wells in one season – Šwiateková completed as the youngest and only fourth player in history. Before her, only Steffi Graf (1994 and 1996), Kim Clijsters (2005) and Victoria Azarenka (2016) succeeded.

The four-time Grand Slam champion Osaka played the final for the eleventh time in her career and for the first time since her triumph at last year’s Australian Open, but did not reach the eighth title. At the Miami Open, she was the second Japanese in history after Kimiko Date Krumm, just like she did in 1995, but did not achieve a triumph.
