“Doggy Yoga”, Wellbeing and solidarity, event organized by the Rotary Club Marsala, the Interact Club Marsala and the Interact Club Trapani Erice

An initiative that combined well-being and solidarity, the Interact Club Marsala and the Interact Club Trapani Erice organized an event called “Doggy Yoga” which was a huge success. The event, held last September, saw the enthusiastic participation of numerous young people, eager to contribute to a noble cause while dedicating themselves to their physical and mental well-being.

“Doggy Yoga” is a practice that combines traditional yoga positions with the presence of adorable puppies, creating a relaxing and joyful atmosphere. Participants had the opportunity to perform their asanas (posture used in yoga) surrounded by playful puppies, which made the experience unique and unforgettable.

The main objective of the event was to raise funds for the purchase of kibble for the municipal dog shelter of Marsala. Thanks to the generosity of the participants, the two associations managed to raise a significant sum, which will allow them to guarantee adequate nutrition for the dogs housed in the kennel.

Last Sunday 17 November some Interact kids, accompanied by the President of the Marsala Rotary Andrea Aldo Galileo, the President of the Youth Commission Daniele Pizzo and the Interact Delegate of RC Trapani Erice Giusi Poma, delivered the collected food. The manager of the Municipal Kennel and some of his collaborators welcomed the children and explained to them the functioning of a kennel and in particular the one in Marsala. They also illustrated that over 200 dogs are currently hosted in the facility, that, in about a year, over 500 dogs have been adopted, both adults and puppies, and that over eighty percent of adoptions have been made by resident families in northern Italy, where the phenomenon of stray dogs does not exist

Presidents Carla Maria D’Angelo and Giada Giardina have already announced their intention to organize further similar events in the future, with the aim of continuing to support the shelter and other charitable causes. “Doggy Yoga” not only offered a moment of relaxation and fun to the participants, but also represented an important gesture of solidarity towards four-legged friends looking for a home. A brilliant example of how personal well-being can go hand in hand with community support.
