Much of the planning that had been brought into line in recent years was implemented in the Dogern community in 2021 or at least the first work started. This also means that the municipality’s budget, which has so far been balanced with its own financial resources, will require loans from 2022, even with cautious estimates.
A lot had to be postponed or given up completely because of the corona requirements. Nevertheless, a lot was moved in the community. This became clearest for the road users who had to accept the full closure and longer detours for weeks at the western entrance to the town due to the expansion of Christof-Stoll-Strasse. Road construction work also resulted in longer waiting times for drivers at the eastern entrance to the town.

Improvements in the school building, where a new heating system was installed for a contemporary energy supply, were among the investments made by the community that cannot be postponed. In the past year, more than ever, the need to digitize primary schools became clear. Without any time delay, the administration and the municipal council decided to purchase the necessary infrastructure. After the afternoon and holiday care provided by the community for primary school children had declined, it was decided to seek professional advice on how to optimize the problem.

The topic of kindergarten was in focus several times and from a wide variety of perspectives. After 42 years as an educator in the St. Clemens Kindergarten in Dogern, the educator Verna Rupp was retired. After it was established that there would be a forest kindergarten in Dogern in the future, the local council visited the area above the settlers’ home in July. Considerations for savings in the construction of the new kindergarten were made with the architect, while Mayor Fabian Prause made it clear that the start of construction should not be postponed.

The work on the new fire brigade building, which started with the official groundbreaking ceremony on September 20, is well on schedule. In parts of the ground, the soil conditions were unexpected, which resulted in additional work and a time delay of two weeks. Arrived shortly before Christmas, the first part of the essential infrastructure improvement of the Dogern fire brigade was the new MLF medium fire-fighting vehicle with an acquisition value of 326,000 euros, which is funded by the state of Baden-Wrttemberg with 66,000 euros.
E-car sharing has been available in Dogern since August 2021. With the Renault Zoe, which is stationed at the station with two loading bays behind the town hall, Dogern has a climate-friendly mobility offer, as Mayor Fabian Prause emphasized. Young to seniors were on the road in a climate-friendly way, on the city bikes advertised by the district. 146 participants in 23 teams covered a combined total of 33,590 kilometers, which saved five tons of CO2 means and the Dogerner brought victory among the participating communities in the district.

The community
The community of Dogern has 2300 inhabitants.
