Dogan’s thermal power plant will have gas by paying off its debts

Bulgargaz expects TPP Varna to repay its debt or make a binding offer to repay it against the provision of a bank guarantee, after which deliveries under the contract will be resumed. This was stated in response to a request from Actualno.com from the state gas supplier in connection with the stopped gas supply to TPP “Varna”.

The gas company clarified that it has concluded contracts with TPP Varna for the supply of natural gas, according to which it has fulfilled all its obligations. For its part, the TPP does not repay its overdue debts, despite the letters sent and the talks, and so the supply of fuel was stopped on October 1.

After this measure TPP “Varna” pays off part of its obligations and undertakes to make a new payment. Then the company paid BGN 10 million, but then it accumulated debts again. Thus, gas supplies have resumed, but only in a few days, as payments are suspended again.

In early November, Bulgargaz EAD took legal action against the debtor and since the beginning of December the bank accounts of the thermal power plant have been frozen. A lawsuit was also filed to collect the amounts due in court.

Bulgargaz expects the debt to be repaid or a bank guarantee to be provided in order to resume deliveries. They also emphasize that they sell gas to all their customers at prices lower than those on European gas markets, which in the conditions of an unprecedented energy crisis is in the interest of consumers.

Earlier in the day, former Transport Minister Danail Papazov, who represents Varna TPP, said the plant had been shut down since October 1st because it had failed to pay its bills despite high stock market prices due to peak prices. gas. According to him, the gas was not stopped due to debts. He does not deny that the plant has debts to Bulgargaz, but claims that he is repaying them. There were debts, but they were operational and the TPP serviced them.
