Dog ‘moved’ by woman bites village worker during dengue campaign, complaint registered | Kolkata News | Home – Post Nusantara

A female village worker was bitten by a pet dog that was released by a woman resident in a dengue prevention study in Baguiati area of ​​North 24 Parganas district.

A complaint has been lodged at Baguiati police station, Bidhannagar Municipality in this regard.

The alleged incident took place on Monday.

MC Bidhannagar health inspector Bandhu Sundar Majhi said, “Last year, there was a severe dengue fever in the city. A team visited a rented accommodation and found dengue mosquito larvae in flower pots. They ask residents to maintain cleanliness. That’s when the pet dog was released by Sandhya Das, biting one of the workers on the leg.”

The MC worker was taken to a nearby hospital and doctors gave him 14 injections, it is learnt.

The police said that they are investigating the case after receiving a complaint.

Suparna Ghosh Sarkar, a local councillor, called the in-charge of the police station, seeking action against the house owner, sources said.

Mosquito-borne disease prevention application launched

A special app has been launched by the state Panchayat Department to combat dengue fever and malaria in rural areas.

This application directly monitors workers who are tasked with screening for mosquito-borne diseases.

Panchayat-level workers have been asked to upload all the information on the app from field and field surveys they have conducted.

In addition to Health, the Department of Public Works and Urban Development intervenes when dengue fever or malaria occurs in urban areas.

Local governments also receive support from these departments in dealing with these diseases and eradicating dengue fever and mosquito larvae.

The Panchayat Department has devised a plan to identify ‘hotspots’ in rural areas by conducting surveys through these apps, officials said.
