Mrs. Eekma lives with Labrador Cowboy in an apartment in Dordrecht. There she experiences considerable stress from her neighbor, Rupert. She hates her dog so much that he regularly yells at her and her four-legged friend and accuses the animal of biting him. “He has been very nasty to my dog from the start,” the neighbor tells Viktor Brand, “When he was eight weeks and came to me, the neighbor came over and made gunshot movements at the puppy.” She now feels so intimidated by the neighbor’s behavior that she has had a camera placed on the gallery. “I’m afraid he might hurt my dog or me.”
There are two sides to every story, so Rupert also makes himself heard, “It’s not just the dog, but also the neighbor herself,” he says. For example, she would deliberately throw tufts of fur at the man’s door, where he shows a collection of them as evidence. He describes how Cowboy would have put his teeth in his hand.
Both neighbor and neighbor want the other to either move or get a restraining order. To mr. Frank Visser to make a well-considered statement about this. This is where a dog behaviorist comes in. “It’s not really a watchdog,” Viktor concludes when he meets Labrador Cowboy himself. The animal is clearly enthusiastic, wags its tail and jumps on the couch with its owner and Viktor. Moments later, the dog behaviorist also confirms that there is “no harm” in Cowboy. “Just wild and enthusiastic.”
Other neighbors are also present at the verdict, who are clearly team Cowboy – or at least anti-Rupert. mr. Frank Visser eventually imposes a restraining order on the neighbour. If he does not comply, he risks a fine of up to 10,000 euros and even forced eviction.
Tears of joy flow down Mrs. Eekma’s cheeks. Viewers feel sorry for her. “People like the neighbor are actually really dangerous. You can drive the other person crazy with such behavior. Hope he is not allowed to speak a word with her after the verdict, “it sounds, among other things, on Twitter. Another finds it especially funny that the labrador is portrayed as an ‘aggressive monster’. ‘I’m already in a dent! A good guy of a dog.’
But there is also another sound. For example, one viewer writes: ‘How quickly someone who does not fit in the box is put away. The owner of the dog is immediately believed. Because a dog! My idea, madam is acting very differently than mister can express verbally. And that’s his bad luck.’
mr. Frank Visser makes a statement can be seen every Thursday at 8.30 pm on SBS6. This episode you can look back here.
