Dog Eats $4,000 Cash: Couple Recovers Almost Entire Amount

They managed to recover almost the entire amount.

A couple from Pennsylvania, US, were shocked after their beloved dog gobbled up $4,000 in cash.

About it writes The Washington Post.

“This is Cecil. He’s never done anything wrong in his life,” Carrie Lowe wrote in an Instagram video that has received more than 500,000 shares and likes.

A sealed envelope full of $50 and $100 bills had been sitting on Lowe’s kitchen counter for just 30 minutes when Clayton’s husband discovered tiny, shredded pieces of bills scattered across the floor.

“He screamed, ‘Cecil ate $4,000!’ I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Cecil really did it.”

The couple was stunned – the 7-year-old goldendoodle was generally a well-behaved dog who never took anything from the table, particularly food.

“He’d never done anything wrong before, so we were more shocked than angry,” Clayton said. “We couldn’t believe it. We looked at each other and said, ‘What are we going to do?’

While Cecil slept off the $4,000 meal, the couple called the vet, who thankfully said the dog would likely “return” the money without incident.

At this time, the couple decided to salvage everything they could. The bank explained that they would take back the bills, which were taped together with the full serial numbers visible on the front and back. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing also requires that at least 50% of each note be identified.

Luckily, Carrie and Clayton collected about $1,500 from the torn bills Cecil left on the floor.

“Cecil was sitting on a couch full of $2,500, and we knew there was only one way to get that money back,” Carrie said.

That night Cecil snatched up $250. Clayton fearlessly donned a mask and gloves, grabbed a bunch of plastic bags, and over the next two days accompanied Cecil as he walked around his yard while the dog relieved himself.

He and Kerry then sifted through the dog droppings and washed the torn bills with dish soap in the sink.

“I never thought I’d be able to say I laundered money, but apparently there’s a first time for everything,” Kerry said.

After two more days, they received about $1,800, bringing the total to $3,550.

As for the rest, Kerry says he plans to use the scraps to make “the ultimate piece of art” that will serve as a reminder of the sordid history.

“We couldn’t be mad at him – he’s a really sweet dog,” she said. “People often tell us that there is a person stuck inside our dog.”

Let us remind you that in Istanbul plane aborted takeoff because of a cat. The cat, which the owner wanted to smuggle in secretly and without documents, suddenly jumped out of his hand luggage and began running around the cabin.
