A dog cafe owner was fined for abusing a dog that a customer trusted.

Cheongju District Court Detective 4 (Presiding Judge Cho Soo-yeon) announced on the 26th that he sentenced Mr. A (30), who was brought to trial on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act, to pay a fine of 3 million won.

Mr. A operated a dog cafe in Osong-eup, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do for about a month starting last January, and abused customers’ dogs by stepping on them or throwing them on the floor. She also threw a litter box at the dog and lifted the dog by the scruff of its neck. There were 15 instances of abuse confirmed by investigative agencies.

The court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, “It seems that the owners who trusted the defendant and entrusted their pets with them were greatly shocked,” and “The nature of the crime is not good considering the level and frequency of abuse, but he is showing an attitude of acknowledging and reflecting on his mistakes.” .
