Dog Bone-shaped Asteroid Named Cleopatra, Most Unusual Rock in Solar System

CALIFORNIA, KOMPAS.TV – A strange asteroid shaped like a dog bone was discovered in the sun’s orbit between Mars and Jupiter.

The unique asteroid was also named Cleopatra, the name of the famous Egyptian Queen and is called the most unusual rock in the Solar System.

The bone asteroid that looks like a big dog bone was discovered 140 years ago by astronomers.

Quoted from Daily Star, the foreign object was first seen between Mars and Jupiter.

The asteroid also has two moons orbiting it.

The object is called the dogbone asteroid because it has two lobes connected by a thick neck, measuring about 168 miles long and 58 miles wide.

The asteroid is mostly made of metal.

New images released between 2017 and 2019 by the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Atacama, Chile show Cleopatra in unprecedented detail.
