“Dog Bites Owner: Martin Rütter Steps In to Help Helena’s Troubled Retriever Mix Timmy on ‘Die Unvermittelbare'”

Great excitement with Martin Rütter: In the current episode of “Die Unvermittelbare” (Sunday, 4.50 p.m., RTL) there is shocking news for the “dog professional”. Timmy, a lively retriever mix, who has found a new home with Helena and her family near Frankfurt for a few months, bites his mistress – so badly that Helena has to go to the hospital, where her wounds on her hand and Arm need stitches!

The biting incident happened when Helena wanted to settle an argument between Timmy and first dog Duke, she explains: “My brother came home and dear Duke said that Timmy shouldn’t greet him directly now. Somehow a fight broke out between the two. I jumped in as a human shield and Timmy really tacked my arm,” reports Helena.

Holder: “I know that I made the mistake”

Dog trainer Marcel Wunderlich, with whom Timmy was before, first takes the male back to himself so that things can calm down again. “I would have found it much nicer if we met again under different circumstances,” says the dog trainer, depressed. Actually, everyone had hoped that the “unplaceable” would find a forever home with Helena and her family.

Only the first dog, Duke, had no desire for the new addition from the start, which he clearly showed. He attacked him multiple times. But after three months it seemed like Duke had gotten used to Timmy, both of whom were also walking around the house without a muzzle and seemed to accept each other.

Martin Rütter wants to know how Helena is doing after the severe biting incident. The “dog professional” has a queasy feeling before the video call with her and dog trainer Marcel. He wonders if it still makes sense to let Timmy come back – especially since there’s always a fight with Duke. But Helena reports in a good mood that she is doing very well again while holding her wounded arm in front of the camera: “It’s not such a huge disaster. I know I made the mistake.”

Martin Rütter: “We mustn’t play that down!”

Martin Rütter interrupts her: “No, no, no, no! I have a feeling you’re kinda like a mom right now, protecting her own child. Timmy, in a situation where he was being pressured, went forward and even backed up. We mustn’t play that down!” warns the dog trainer. But Helena explains calmly: “I’m sure if I had intervened differently, I wouldn’t have gotten anything. Now I don’t see that Timmy poses any danger.”

Martin Rütter notices that Timmy’s mistress is not only blindly in love with the dog, but also sees very clearly what a great task still lies ahead of her: “Helena is Helena, she’s cool,” the “dog professional” states appreciatively. Nevertheless, he wants to know how dog trainer Marcel Wunderlich assesses the situation: “On the one hand, I’m totally skeptical because such situations happen again and again in everyday life. It can’t be the solution that both dogs have to wear a muzzle all the time,” he says, “on the other hand, I also see the improvement that Helena has achieved and her great motivation. One of the keys is to get the whole family on board during training,” says the dog trainer.

“Duke is the problem!”

Above all, the family must establish firm structures in the house so that both dogs know what is desired and what is not. Martin Rütter also warns that the family, especially the first dog Duke, must set limits: “Everyone is highly motivated, only they have to understand: Duke is the problem,” he says.

Then the time has come: Three weeks after the biting incident, Helena picks up the black male from dog trainer Marcel: The joy on both sides is huge. The first encounter with archenemy Duke then takes place in the open field – initially at a great distance. “We’re starting from scratch again,” says Martin Rütter. But Timmy shows no sign of aggression toward Duke.

The “dog professional” is still slightly skeptical, but still positive about the future of the “unplaceable”: “Of course, Duke now thinks: ‘Oh God, the pain in the neck is back!’, but because of the fact that Timmi comments everything very cheerfully , I believe we still have a chance. I hope we won’t experience the big drama again,” he says. And for Helena it is clear anyway: she will not give her Timmy back.
