A dog hit a 4-year-old girl in the US state of Michigan, the local fire department reports Facebook.
The accident happened during a large annual barbecue in the American city of Westland. Dog Bella from the local fire brigade was also present at this barbecue. It was on the seat of the golf cart that the fire department used for the event. When the dog jumped off the chair, she lay down on the accelerator of the cart, causing it to shoot forward.
Some firefighters saw the vehicle drive away and managed to steer it away from the crowd at the barbecue. However, the cart had already run over the girl’s left leg.
No injuries
Paramedics who rushed to the scene quickly took care of the child, who was shocked, but had no injuries. “Fortunately, the child was able to eat her popcorn a few minutes after the accident and within ten minutes she jumped into the bouncy castle of the fire brigade,” writes the Westland fire brigade.
A second child may have been slightly injured by the cart. A mother writes in response to the fire brigade’s message that her daughter was also hit and had some bruises on her arm.
Dog Bella is also doing well, according to the fire department. She will still be allowed on the golf cart in the future, but extra safety measures will be taken. The animal is trained to search for traces of odors from potential fire accelerators such as gasoline after a fire. This can be used to determine whether a fire has possibly been started. But in recent years, Bella has mainly been used for promotional activities, such as at the barbecue.
