YouTube has launched the beta of a new feature that could make many of its users angry. The application has been harshly criticized for its attempts to look like TikTokand this apparent new feature would only be further proof of this.
According to a report from Android Authority, the video platform is already testing this new feature with a select group of users. The highlight is that far from bringing something new to the app, it would seem that they would take a feature directly from their competitor, TikTok.

This is the trial version of a Vertical carousel for long videos. This function is similar to the way Shorts, Instagram Reels and videos on TikTok operate, by sliding your finger up on the screen you can change videos.
“We are conducting an experiment with a small group of Android users that allows them to swipe up to discover more videos when watching in portrait or landscape mode in full screen,” a spokesperson for the platform told The Verge.

This new feature is still in test mode, so it is not We will necessarily see it released publicly. We must remember that YouTube usually tests users before launching new updates, which do not always come to fruition.

“To try to help viewers better discover content across all YouTube channels, formats, and durations, we’re running some small experiments on the watch page and with Shorts,” the company shared.
