The French publisher has allegedly joined the NDP with a pair of legs and is trying to express this as strongly as possible within the company (although not everyone is within Ubisoft for the technology either!).
A Kotaku wrote that Ubisoft had a gathering where skeptical developers about NFTs could be convinced of digital objects and their role. The company, led by Yves Guillemot, then began handing out some special NFTs to the team in charge of Ghost Recon because the French company wanted to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the franchise. (We note in parentheses that Ubisoft NFTs, which revolve around the Quartz marketplace, appeared at Ghost Recon Breakpoint.)
Previously also the Kotaku wrote that Ubisoft developers are not very happy about the direction set by the company. MANA, the French internal community interface, received several comments in which the developers expressed displeasure. There was even more confusion and frustration after Ubisoft announced Quartz (which we had previously written about its reception on YouTube, how negative it was… but others backed away from the NFTs, such as GSC Game World a With STALKER 2, but Team17 is also there).
One developer didn’t understand exactly what the problem Ubisoft wanted to solve was, and then asked if the specifically negative publicity that the company would receive would be worth it. And a colleague came up with a better question: “How can you look at private property, speculation, artificial rarity and selfishness if you then say, ‘yes, that’s what I want, let’s make it art!’?” And none of them mentioned the impact on the environment, it could be a completely different (but relevant) topic…
It wasn’t by chance that we caught our heads when Nicolas Pouard, vice president of strategic innovation at Ubisoft, Findernek in a given interview, he openly stated that players simply do not understand how the secondary market can benefit them. This is typically a thought that is completely detached from the real world, which is not very much the case cut coincides with what a field player represents…
