UPDATED: The problem has been solved and commented by Vodafone. Many (quite possibly all) users of fixed internet from Vodafone, more precisely those connected via the original network from UPC, report a big outage from Wednesday at ten o’clock. According to current information, they fail after an as yet unspecified error connect their modems back to the network. The complication is most likely due to an internal problem. The complete cut-off from the network is also confirmed by members of our newsroom and their friends.
In the meantime, we are waiting for the official statement of the Czech operator, to which the entire network and the UPC company now belong. On Twitter the first posts began to appear, which also tried to find answers. Representatives in one of them Vodafone / UPC mention that it is internet outage caused by loss of “device view”. Below that we can probably imagine the inability of servers to communicate with end modems.
Update: “Some of our customers in the former UPC network may currently have problems with a fixed internet connection in their homes. The problems were caused by a server outage, we are now working intensively to eliminate the problem and we will inform you about further developments, ”commented Vodafone CR spokesman Ondřej Luštinec in the morning. At around 12:30, the operator reported that the outage was resolved. “We managed to eliminate the cause of the problem, the services are functional again. If the internet did not start automatically for a customer who was in difficulty, just restart – that is, switching the modem on and off. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
