jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Maxi Rein Rondonuwu said that HPV vaccination has been shown to reduce the potential for cervical cancer.
Currently, he said, the introduction of HPV vaccination has been carried out in several districts/cities, one of which is Yogyakarta City.
“That’s why we expanded this year’s direction from the minister to add to eight provinces. So, four provinces in Java and Bali, and three provinces in Sulawesi,” said Maxi, quoted from his statement, Saturday (23/4).
The additional provinces that will carry out HPV vaccination are DKI Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java, North Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and Bali.
It is known that the Minister of Health (Minister of Health) Budi Gunadi Sadikin added three types of vaccines in the complete routine immunization program.
The three vaccines are PCV, Rotavirus, and HPV.
Budi highlighted the problem of maternal mortality which is mostly caused by cervical and breast cancer.
He also paid attention to cases of child deaths from diarrhea and pneumonia.
