In a few months, Piotr Żyła will celebrate his 38th birthday. Is this why he is afraid of the upcoming forty? What kind of father is he to his 12-year-old daughter and almost 18-year-old son? The ski jumping world champion talked about his private life in a conversation with Damian Michałowski.
Piotr Żyła about the crisis of a 40-year-old
In January next year, Piotr Żyła will be 38 years old. Is it a lot or a little for him?
– Overall, I feel good. Especially now that I have had some rest, mainly at home. I don’t remember such a time anymore, it was always the way we trained, camp after camp – says the ski jumping world champion.
Is he facing a forty-year-old crisis? – No, I still do what I like. Life just gives me pleasure – admits the athlete in a conversation with Damian Michałowski.
Piotr Żyła – what kind of father is he?
The ski jumper likes to spend his free time from sports duties with his 12-year-old daughter Karolina.
– At the stable, because my daughter rides horses, I could watch her train. The only thing is that it’s hard to clean the room, but with the horse he’ll do anything – the jumper jokes. – It’s good that he will at least learn discipline, but he likes it, you can see that he wants to do it – he adds.
He also tried horse riding. – They sat me down once. I rode a bit, I didn’t fall, so it’s a success – Piotr laughs.
His son will soon be 18 years old. – He has his passions, his own activities. He is a guitarist, he founded a band. An artist has his own world, he says.
What advice could he give to less experienced fathers?
– I have a relaxed approach to my children. I just always give them a choice, to live their lives the way they want and learn from their mistakes. I know what I was like at that age, when someone told me something, I did the complete opposite – recalls Piotr Żyła. – I am happy to watch them grow, develop and enter adult life. I am proud of my children – emphasizes the jumping champion.
Piotr Żyła about his partner
He has been with his partner for 5 years.
– Have you thought about taking your relationship to a new stage? – Damian Michałowski asked.
– We didn’t think about it We are fine with life as it is. We get along well, we’ve lived together for quite a long time. I don’t see any need to finalize it. If there really was something like this, it would be rather modest and on our own terms. I prefer to live my life, do my own thing, and not involve my loved ones, because I know that it’s not easy to actually deal with it sometimes – summarizes Piotr Żyła.
