Heino is currently touring the USA with his songs. In an interview, he revealed what music he listens to when he returns home.
New York – Heino (85) is without doubt one of the most successful German-speaking pop stars ever. With “Blau blüht der Enzian” and “Was wollen wir trinken” the Düsseldorf native delivered his versions of well-known folk songs, with which he made a name for himself among German emigrants in the USA. But what kind of music does Heino actually listen to in private?

Heino is currently on a trip to America, for which he has of course invited the best company: none other than “Modern Talking” icon Thomas Anders (61) flew overseas with the musician to visit New York and, above all, the German-speaking communities on the east coast. And although the two stars pursue very different styles, both seem to admire each other’s music.

While Thomas Anders describes Heino in an interview with Bild as “THE German legend”, the folk musician explains about his colleague’s former band: “For me, Modern Talking is the most successful German group internationally. Their great songs are still played everywhere today.” So it’s possible that “Modern Talking” records are also played at Heino’s house from time to time.

But what music does Heino actually listen to in private? The answer is more unusual than expected. In an interview with “Bild”, the pop star reveals his music habits: “I don’t listen to any music at home. A confectioner doesn’t take his baking tray home with him either.”

The fact that he is successful in the USA despite his lack of interest in listening to music is mainly due to the fact that Heino does not write his own hits, but rather reinterprets old German folk songs. In an interview, he says of his American fans: “I performed here 40 years ago and had fans. Then, as now, they were German emigrants who were able to build a bridge to their homeland with me and my folk songs. That’s why my New York audience is no different from those in Düsseldorf or Kitzbühel.”
