In the advertisement, it was said that the doctor graduated from a famous school and had a long career, and that the implant was placed on the same day. However, after adding this and that, the price ended up being more than double the price. It wasn’t even buried on the same day.
Recently, as false medical advertisements have flooded social media, the number of people complaining of damage is increasing rapidly, so caution is required.
They tempt people by saying that the city will subsidize the cost of implant surgery or that the surgery can be done at a much lower cost than previously known. However, this is a false and exaggerated advertisement that is not true.
First of all, Daegu City does not support implant costs. When asked about the contents, a Daegu city official said, “There is no relationship with Daegu City at all, and the claim of support is groundless.”
Some other local governments also provide support for implant surgery costs. However, support is usually provided to seniors over 65 or low-income people.
There is controversy over advertising that implant surgery can be performed at a very low cost of around 300,000 won.
Some say it is providing medical benefits without any bubbles, but the medical community as a whole is concerned about poor medical practice and follow-up care.
The medical community points out that theoretically it is possible to make a profit in the 300,000 won range when looking at the cost of implant materials alone, but if you add in additional factors such as labor costs, various medical procedures and examination fees, and bone grafting, it is a price that can never be achieved.
Considering that the cost of recent implant surgery has dropped significantly compared to 10 years ago and is usually around 1 million won, there is no significant difference compared to the incidental costs incurred at ultra-low-price implant dentistry, and the bigger advantage is that you can receive it consistently from the same medical staff. In the end, advertisements like these are a marketing ploy by advertising agencies to lure people to dental clinics.
An official from the Daegu City Dental Association said, “Recently, agencies are flooding into corporate-type organizations and are cleverly luring patients to avoid medical laws. If you go to a phone store after seeing an advertisement for a ‘free cell phone,’ you must use a high-cost plan for a long period of time to get a ‘free cell phone.’ “If you look at it the same way as the principle of receiving it, it will never be vaguely cheap,” he said.
He also added, “Using clever word play to mislead patients and make them come through an agency ultimately means collecting agency fees from the patients.”
Kim Sang-woon, an integrated dentistry specialist, said, “Although implants are said to be semi-permanent, regular checkups and follow-up care must also be done semi-permanently, so choosing a hospital where you can visit for a long time is the wisest way.” He added, “If the hospital disappears or the surgical staff disappears, implantation can be done later.” “Because we don’t know the ingredients or process, we need to look into it carefully,” he said.
