Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – As you get older, do you become more interested in taking care of your memory?
And while we have lower rates of cardiovascular disease and some cancers than the previous generation, the numbers go the other way when it comes to brain-related impairments.
Although memory loss is a common health problem, especially in the elderly, dementia is not a normal part of aging and the elderly are not doomed to forget.
And the official Dubai Health Authority Twitter account shared 6 tips to keep your memory strong:
- Get enough sleep
- Play games that stimulate memory
- Find time to meditate
- Take fish oil supplements if advised by your doctor
- Eat a small amount of added sugar
- Maintain a healthy weight
And when it comes to the food you eat, you may want to follow the “SHARP” food protocol, which is about reducing your sugar intake, keeping your body hydrated, and adding more “omega-3” fatty acids from your food.
It should be remembered that regular sleep and exercise should be prioritized.
Sleep regulates memory, while physical activity pumps certain substances into the brain that act as fertilizer for the growth of its cells.
