About to complete the first month of the 2024 MLB Season, the Los Angeles Dodgers face the New York Mets this Saturday at Dodger Stadium seeking to end a streak of four losses in the last five games they have played, while The New Yorkers will seek to extend their winning streak to six games.
How do they get there?
Francisco Lindor hit a two-run home run to break the tie in the seventh inning and lead the New York Mets to their fifth consecutive victory by beating the Dodgers 9-4. Lindor hit his second home run of the season with a 396-footer to right field off Daniel Hudson to give the Mets a 6-4 lead in the seventh inning after the Dodgers erased an early four-run deficit.
After starting the season by losing their first five games, the Mets have gone 11-3.
José Buttó makes his third start of the season for the Mets. The right-hander completed 6.0 scoreless innings during his last start on April 14 against Kansas City, allowing only one hit, one walk and setting a personal record for strikeouts with nine.
The Dodgers’ starter will be Gavin Stone, the same one who on Sunday wove a perfect game until the sixth inning against San Diego and ended up pitching 6.2 two-run innings to claim his first game win of the campaign. This work lowered his total effectiveness for the year to 5.14.
