One of the most notorious absences in the bullpen of Los angeles dodgers for this season 2021 of the MLB has been the right-hander Joe Kelly, who hasn’t pitched since World Series last october. After being placed on the disabled list on April 1 with an injury, the reliever confessed that he underwent surgery during the winter break.

In an interview with WEEI, a radio station in Boston, the reliever said that his arm has not been well since late 2019. However, it was during the suspension following his incident with the Houston Astros that tests revealed that he had cysts, especially a very large one that grew into one of the nerves that limited Kelly to using 50 percent of the shoulder muscles.

“I ended up pitching in the World Series at 95 mph, not knowing where I was going because I had these cysts on my nerve,” Kelly said. “They ended up putting metal forceps in my labrum and then they decompressed all the cysts. Some loose bodies were sucked out of my rotator cuff. So it was a good little surgery. “

Joe Kelly He said he’s already doing bullpen sessions and his pitches have hit 90 mph in the most recent simulated games he’s had. He hopes that soon he can return to the bullpen with the Dodgers, team with which he is in his last year of contract.
