Dodgers’ Bobby Miller Dominates Braves in Big-League Debut

ATLANTA (AP) — Bobby Miller won the matchup between hard-throwing pitchers, allowing one run in five innings in his big-top debut, leading the Dodgers to an 8-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. .

JD Martinez and Jason Heyward homered for the Dodgers, who also got three RBIs from Will Smith.

Atlanta starter Spencer Strider struck out eleven tonight, adding to his strikeout tally that leads the current season in the majors. It was the fourth double-digit strikeout outing for the young pitcher this season.

It wasn’t enough to get past the Los Angeles rookie, especially when Strider (4-2) gave up a home run to Heyward in the second. The Dodgers got two more runs in that inning assisted by Matt Olson’s error.

Miller was in charge from that moment on. After a shaky start, the 24-year-old right-hander was able to settle in and dominate the Braves with a fastball that consistently hit 100 mph.

He allowed four hits, walked one and struck out five before turning the rest of the work over to the pitching staff. Four relievers smothered the Braves without allowing runs in each remaining inning.

For the Dodgers, Venezuelan David Peralta batted 4-0, and Miguel Rojas 4-0 with a run scored.

For the Braves, Venezuelan Orlando Arcia batted 3-1, and Ronald Acuña Jr. 3-0; the Dominican Marcell Ozuna 4-0, and the Puerto Rican Eddie Rosario 3-0.
