Dodge Introduces Electrified Charger Daytona, Redefining the Brotherhood of Muscle

Dodge has something they call the “Brotherhood of Muscle”, these are the good old muscle cars that made their way back in the 1960s, but there is a problem. A big one.

Indeed, Dodge has completed the last dance with the Charger and Challenger models, and the very last one to arrive was a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 in yes, 170 copies. The muscle era waved off with a particularly doped car, the Hemi engine was tuned to a tremendous 1,025 horsepower. But. This was only the last chance for today’s Charger and Challenger, because even if a new electric age is now making waves, they have no intention of letting the muscle cars sail into the sunset. No, they intend to make them electric. Yes, it’s like cursing in church, but Dodge doesn’t care. “The electrified 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack delivers Charger Hellcat Redeye levels of performance, announcing its presence through the world’s first Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust,” said Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis. ‒ The next generation of Dodge muscle has arrived. However, Dodge does not dare to go all-in, so they also stock up with versions that have a combustion engine, one with 550 hp and one with 420 hp. New Dodge Charger thus becomes the very first electric member of the “Dodge Brotherhood of Muscle”, and this one is made on the STLA Large platform, of course it is. That means a lot of power and range, so the longing for roaring V8s should be mitigated. Here there are two engines each with 250 kW/335 hp and 407 Nm, so four-wheel drive with driving modes such as “donuts”, “drift” and of course Launch Control. With 670 hp, Dodge estimates that the quarter mile flies by in 11.5 seconds, which the other muscle cars will struggle to match. And yes, the Dodge Charger Daytona also has a patented sound solution that should produce Hellcat-like sounds as the boss mentioned, so the roar is still in place. The top edition is called the Charger Daytona Scat Pack, and Dodge also has a version called the Charger Daytona R/T with 496 hp. The STLA Large is Stellantis’ largest platform, and the electric Charger, which will be the first electric car on it, will be available with a battery of a whopping 100.5 kWh. Dodge estimates that the Charger Daytona R/T gets a range of 317 miles, which translates to 510 kilometers. So yes, maybe a little disappointing for an electric car on this platform. The quick charging from 20 to 80 per cent should also take around 27 minutes, which is not bad for a car with such a large battery. It is the two-door coupé versions that will go into production first, and that will happen in the middle of the year. Next year there will also be four-door versions of the all-electric Daytona Scat Pack and R/T, and at the same time Dodge will produce versions with a combustion engine.
