MPs and academics present their views on the restructuring of the progressive space and the creation of a pole-bulwark in the ND
In the field of the center-left… it smells like gunpowder because of the internal party conflicts in SYRIZA – PS while there are smoldering sources of tension centered on the electoral battle for new leadership in PASOK-KINAL. The crisis in the field of social democracy is fueling the debate about joining forces with an alternative plan of government against the anti-popular policy of the ND. At the same time, however, it also causes countervailing tendencies regarding the deconstruction of powers and primacy. Documento continues the dialogue on the reconstitution of the center-left. MPs from SYRIZA-PS and PASOK-KINAL and personalities from science and politics are positioned on the obstacles and possibilities of convergences.
Tparties, the political bodies, are not artificial – situational constructions that can arise from a “benevolent” will… On the contrary, they emerge and prevail through a historical – social process which they must express by overcoming the historical crisis from which they emerged.
The agonizing search for a progressive – center-left “cutting edge” – political entity that will dynamically and effectively confront the neoliberal regime and its mechanisms cannot underestimate or ignore the critical social, economic and political ideological conditions that will determine its existence and perspective. carrier thereof.
a) First condition: The new organization (or rather the parties that will cooperate) can only have a reason for existence as a counter example to the neoliberal strategy and the regime that implements it.
Only SYRIZA – PS meets this fundamental condition, whose program directly opposes and conflicts with the neoliberal regime at all levels and especially at the critical nodes where oligarchic interests dominate.
On the contrary, PASOK-KINAL adopting the theory of equal distances (which has as a result the dividing line of conflict between ND and SYRIZA – PS passing through its interior) has never clashed with the actors of the entanglement and oligarchic interests. Neither in the Parliament nor in the critical social reactions.
However, a program that will result from compromises, logics of the “average” and transactions will not only unnerve and strengthen any project from the beginning, but will also make it vulnerable or manipulated by the regime’s policies.
Let’s not forget that a similar type of development is also an aspiration of the regime, since it would free it from SYRIZA – PS, which it fights fiercely.
b) The second term concerns the social subject, the social class forces and currents that could follow and support the project of the great “center-left”.
Today there is an extensive and multi-layered social reaction that even includes sections of the hard core of the ND electorate/social body.
However, this reaction is not articulated institutionally, party-wise, politically. This social majority is not going to follow a body made up of disintegrating or weakened parties nor hire a dynamic perspective from an unknown savior leader who will bounce back through endless trades and compromises. Society wants clear answers and not background and selfish mediators.
Demolition materials and political contractors do not constitute political bodies capable of confronting a rogue regime.
The left and progressive parties should respond to these two basic historical conditions before any other action. In any case, SYRIZA – PS belongs to the central – leading role, both because it follows a clear programmatic strategy and because it has a wider socio-political influence. That is why those who plan and promote the dissolution and disintegration of SYRIZA-PS in order to create social and political “material” for the reconstruction of the progressive space should know that the historical-social reality is not a puzzle that is dissolved and recomposed according to they try it, but a field of hard testing that requires political ethics, dignity and open horizons and perspectives for a people that has been sorely tested for fifteen years.
