Documentary about Donna Summer premieres at the Berlin Film Festival | Music

There will be a new documentary about disco singer Donna Summer. Love To Love You premieres next month at the Berlin Film Festival. The documentary will be shown on HBO in May.

Oscar and Emmy winner Roger Ross Williams is directing the production. The filmmaker received help from Brooklyn Sudano, Summer’s daughter.

In Love To Love You a picture is painted of the singer, who died in 2012 at the age of 63. The documentary contains memories of close family, friends and colleagues of the singer. There are also many archive footage of performances, private recordings and interviews that complete the portrait of the ‘Queen of Disco’.

Donna Summer’s official name was LaDonna Adrian Gaines and she was born in Boston. Her musical career was boosted in Germany in the 1970s when she released her first singles. They did especially well in our country.

In 1974 and 1975 she reached the top five with Lady Of The Night in The Hostage. Also Love To Love You hit the charts in Europe. A year later, too Could It Be Magic a hit.

Summer had meanwhile moved to the United States. Her worldwide breakthrough came in 1977 with I Feel Lovea disco song she made with Giorgio Moroder and became a classic.
