Göttingen (dpa/lni) – The documenta partner exhibition “printing futures” has opened in the Kunsthaus Göttingen. Like the actual “documenta fifteen”, it should run until September 25, according to a spokeswoman for the Kunsthaus.
At the heart of the 100-day exhibition are works of art made from and with paper. The aim of “printing futures” – similar to the documenta in Kassel – is to try out artistic processes together and to present them to the outside world. The documenta is one of the world’s most important shows of contemporary art.
With artistic works and projects, the Göttingen exhibition takes visitors to the interface between paper art, print, photography and book production. Some of the artists from all over the world who work professionally with paper will also produce works of art from the material in Göttingen. Visitors should be able to experience the creation processes of the works of art live. The curator of the show is the publisher Gerhard Steidl, who is also the founding director of the Kunsthaus.
In addition, there will be a supporting program for “printing futures” that deals with the meaning of art, for example. The Junges Theater Göttingen, among others, is involved in the accompanying programme.
In addition to the exhibition in Göttingen, there are other art projects for the documenta outside of Kassel. Among other things, the roof of a former Berlin event hall, which has been converted into a ship, travels across rivers to northern Hesse. On June 24th and 25th, students from the Technical University of Braunschweig will accompany the ship between Wolfsburg and Braunschweig. Around 140 members of the Institute for Architecture-Related Art have built, among other things, 22 boats from bulky waste to accompany the floating art project.
