Several hospitals in Liege, Belgium, are urging doctors to continue working, even if they have tested positive for Covid-19, but have no symptoms and are feeling well.
The number of new infections and hospitalizations in Liège has risen sharply and staff are working on the verge of congestion.
“Even if the doctor has a positive result, but he does not feel bad, please continue to work. Of course, it is risky, and therefore we ask for solidarity, because we will not be able to cope on our own for a long time,” said Steven Laurey, a doctor at the University of Liège.
In two weeks, the number of patients at the University Hospital of Liège has more than quadrupled, with more Covid-19s in the hospital than in the spring. Some hospitals in Liège are already overcrowded and some patients are being transferred to other hospitals in Belgium.
Has been in Belgium for the last two weeks the second fastest spread of Covid-19 in Europe, lagging only behind the Czech Republic.
