According to The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, hiccups are among the symptoms observed in patients suffering from the coronavirus. The study published by the medical journal presents the case of a 62-year-old man positive for covid-19. The patient with severe disease has been observed to experience constant hiccups throughout the duration of his infection. He is not the only one in this case. The symptom has already been observed in other patients, as reported by several scientific journals. Doctors are not surprised, however, to see patients victims of such a phenomenon. It would be the consequence of the damage caused by the coronavirus to the lungs of patients.

Another symptom observed in a few patients at the start of the pandemic is now tending to become more frequent. According to a King’s College study of 336,000 patients, 17% of them presented with rashes and itching. Finally, a study published in The Lancet reports inflammation of the thyroid in some coronavirus patients. Researchers at Cardiff University have shown that this disorder could be seen more often than people think. This was confirmed by Italian scientists who estimated that thyroid problems were observed in 20% of the patients studied.
