Books- Ahmad Juma:

The Doctors ’Syndicate decided, on Monday evening, to refer two doctors to an investigation for publishing prescription medications for the treatment of Covid-19 disease caused by the emerging coronavirus, through their Facebook accounts.

Dr. Mohamed Abdel Hamid, Secretary General of the Medical Syndicate, told Masrawy that the two doctors were referred to the investigation in accordance with the decision of the Syndicate’s office to violate the regulations and the Medical Syndicate’s law by describing medical treatments to the public on communication sites without signing a medical examination, which puts patients at risk.

Abdel Hamid added: “We did not mention the names of the two doctors, because we refer the doctors for investigation without defamation and do not mention the names. The investigations are internal and the result is not announced in the media, and it is sufficient to inform only his work authority.”

This comes at a time when union sources revealed that Dr. Gamal Shaaban, former dean of the Heart Institute, was one of the two doctors who were referred for investigation. He published some days ago what he described as a “protocol for treating people with corona in Egypt”, and included mentioning the names of some medicines and how often they are used.

The sources said that this caused people to buy these drugs from pharmacies during the past days.
