Doctors recommend getting a tetanus shot after Kansas tornadoes

WICHITA, Kan. (NBC Kansas)–Health department experts in Kansas and Butler and Sedgwick counties are asking the community to get a tetanus shot after spring storms and tornadoes affected thousands of residents.

Mentioning that the vaccine should be given every 10 years. This helps against bacteria and diseases from a dog bite or any animal and from a cut on the body.

Doctors from both counties are visiting those neighborhoods that were affected by the tornado on Friday, April 29.

If you have not yet received the vaccine, you are asked to do so as soon as possible. They also recommend getting the shot if you can’t remember the last time you had a tetanus shot.

Tomorrow the Andover Street Fire Station in Andover will be giving tetanus shots while they continue the COVID-19 testing procedure.
