A two-meter giant catfish was caught by two doctors. The huge fish was caught on the Kisimovi Dupki reservoir near the Plovdiv village of Belozem and is the largest specimen taken from the waters in this area. Officially, the catch belongs to Dr. Petar Bekov, but the catfish was removed with the help of Dr. Hristo Hristov. He bit a buffalo with a redfin bait.
“There were times when we wondered how to weigh it, because the currently available scales did not fit. The catfish is exactly 190 cm long. It will probably be a record for catches of catfish on Kissim’s holes. The previous record belonged to Kristian Atanasov from Belozem, who two or three years ago he caught a catfish, 178 cm long and weighing 40 kg “, the owners of the reservoir explained to”Bulgaria today“.
In the end, a scale was not found and in the official statistics only its length of 190 centimeters remains. Experts comment that his weight is certainly over 50 kilograms, which is a serious achievement. The trophy is so impressive in size that they initially kept it tied in the water and refused to tow it.
After they managed to pull it ashore, the doctors took pictures as a souvenir of the giant catch. And they unanimously decided to release the fish, as it is trophy in size and according to the unwritten fishing rules it deserves to be returned to the water.
“The catfish went to the Pyasachnik dam. We hope to find a suitable new home for it, as well as to have a family that will give birth to many new generations. Thanks to the colleagues who decided to do this noble deed!”, They said. from Kissim’s holes, which immortalized the moments of capture and release with photos and videos. The reservoir is located in the area of Maystorov Gyol and the anglers have really shown skill to win the battle with the giant with gills.
