Doctors in Minya are calling for a strike by the health units … and Al-Nagaa

Young doctors in Minya governorate called for the opening of a criminal and administrative investigation into the killing of 3 female doctors and the injury of 15 others, as a result of the traffic accident that occurred last Wednesday, for a microbus transporting female doctors who were on their way to attend training at the Doctors Training Institute of the Ministry of Health in Abbasiya.

Doctors released a statement that they said was issued by the “Batch of 29 Minya Medicine”, on Friday, during which they called for a general strike on health units throughout the republic, until the completion of the investigation into the incident of female doctors, and the perpetrators to be held accountable.

The Medical Syndicate had decided to file a report with the Attorney General and the Administrative Prosecution to open a criminal and administrative investigation into the incident against anyone who caused abusive administrative orders or participated in the threat to female doctors, which put their lives at risk.

The statement called for the deceased to be counted as “female martyrs and their families as martyrs’ families and to demand the payment of material compensation to them”, in addition to calculating the injuries “work injury”, providing the highest medical service for them and demanding the payment of material compensation to them. “

They demanded that the causes of the accident be examined for later fading, by providing training to doctors in their governorates, providing safe means of transportation for doctors ’movements in official business tasks, and reporting the errands at least two weeks in advance.

He called on doctors to organize a protest to confirm their demands, provided that the location and date be determined after coordination with the relevant authorities, as well as call for an emergency general assembly to discuss the doctors ’problems.

In turn, Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed, a member of the Physicians Syndicate and the decision of the Youth Committee, said that there is communication with doctors in Minya, and their demands are the same as what the Physicians Syndicate demanded regarding the accident.

Lamasraoui added that a report has been submitted to the Attorney General regarding the incident, and the doctors who were forced and threatened the female doctors to attend the training will be held accountable.

Asked whether the union would call a strike for health units, he said: “We have not taken a decision to call a strike for units, but we may have to do so if the female doctors are negligent.”

The Ministry of Health could not be reached for comment, as the media spokesman did not answer the phone.
