Another key symptom of the coronavirus has been named. To the list of three main ones (high fever, new dry cough, loss of smell and sense of taste), scientists at King’s College London recommended adding a fourth – skin lesions, writes MedicForum.
Experts made this conclusion after analyzing information about almost 12 thousand people with skin rashes who have been tested for COVID-19.
According to experts, the infection provokes the appearance of skin rashes, which can be divided into three categories: a hives-type rash – the appearance of bumps on the skin that disappear within a few hours, usually causing severe itching and contributing to swelling of the lips and eyelids. Second category: Chickenpox-like rash – itchy red bumps appear anywhere on the body, but prefer to concentrate on the elbows, knees, back of hands and feet. Finally, another type of rash is a reddish or purplish irritation of the skin on the fingers and toes that resembles frostbite.
According to the latest data, more than 42.9 million people are infected with coronavirus in the world, over 1.1 million have died.
