80% of those infected with the coronavirus are deficient in vitamin D, Spanish scientists said.
According to the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 216 patients participated in the study.
Doctors found that 82.2% of COVID-19 patients were vitamin D deficient compared to 47.2% in the control group. Moreover, this problem was observed in men more often than in women.
In general, most modern people, especially the elderly, suffer from chronic vitamin D deficiency, the article says.
