Yogyakarta (ANTARA) – The combination of honey and Black Seed is efficacious in increasing endurance, and is good for additional therapy, especially during the year-end holiday season, said the Media Education Team of the Association of Indonesian Traditional Medicine and Herbal Medicine Developers (PDPOTJI) dr. Afifah K Vardhani.
“The combination of Black Seed and Honey is also effective in accelerating the recovery of COVID-19 patients and increasing body resistance in COVID-19 patients. The goodness of honey and Black Seed can be obtained practically in Kojima,” Afifah said in a written statement in Yogyakarta, Friday.
He explained that Black Seed or Nigella sativa is a type of subtropical plant from the Middle East. Since a long time, the seeds of this plant have been used as herbal medicine for various types of diseases and increase endurance.
Black Seed contains various nutrients that the body needs, such as protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins A, B1, B6, C, and E. This herb is included in the phytostimulant immunostimulant group containing thymoquinone.
“Thymoquinone compounds have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial, and immunomodulatory activities. Black Seed has been shown to have therapeutic potential against viral infections, so it can be considered as additional therapy in COVID-19 patients,” he said.
He said, similar to Habatussauda, honey has long been known to people in various parts of the world to have various health benefits. In addition to its sweet taste, honey contains various important nutrients that the body needs.
These nutrients are vitamins A, B complex, C, E, K, phenolic acids, carotenoids, flavonoids. Phytonutrient compounds in honey can strengthen immune cells in the body. This can reduce the chance of infection. Moreover, honey is also efficacious as antifungal and antibacterial.
“Thus, consuming honey regularly can stimulate the body to produce immune cells and the body’s metabolism will become stronger. Consuming honey can be one of the additional therapies for COVID-19 patients,” said Afifah.
