The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Napoli found inside the home of a doctor, resident in Saint Mary the Charity and carrying out the professional activity in Pompeii, almost 8 million euros in cash of which the professional, operating in the social security sector, he was unable to justify the origin.
In particular, the military of the Group Annunziata Towerduring the opening of a tax audit against the doctor, through home access authorised by the Oplonti Public Prosecutor’s Office, given the coincidence of the place of practice at the home and given the evidence of tax evasion, they found during the searches a room hidden behind a cupboard, used as a vault, inside which the large amount of cash was discovered, mostly divided into “bundles” of 20, 50, 100 and 200 euros, and wrapped in envelopes bearing various writings and annotations.
Therefore, not only was the large sum of cash seized, which was disproportionate to the income declared by the doctor and anomalous both in quantity and for storage methodsbut also of all the documentation relating to his professional activity, subsequently validated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Torre Annunziata which had authorised home access.
The preventive seizure of the cash was subsequently validated by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Torre Annunziata, considered the most reasonable illicit origin of the sameusing concrete and specific evidence of the crime of aggravated fraud against the State and in any case of the crime of receiving stolen goods.
