JawaPos.com – Exercise can nourish organs, including the heart. However, excessive exercise can also be unhealthy for the heart. Especially for those who already have heart disease.
Then what exercise is ideal for a healthier heart?
Cardiologist Siloam Hospitals Sriwijaya, dr. Arief Aji Subakti SpJP FIHA Cardiologist explained that sports are aerobic and can be done with a duration of 30 minutes 3-5 days a week.
According to Arief, recently there have been several cases in the community related to someone experiencing cardiac arrest while exercising which has resulted in death. Why is that?
According to him, the stopping of the heart starts with the accumulation of fat or plaque that blocks the flow of blood vessels and can escape or get carried away when the pacemaker works hard, one of which is through exercise. Eventually, when the plaque is released it completely obstructs the flow of blood vessels resulting in the stop of the pacemaker.
“Do light and relaxed exercise such as running and walking or jogging as long as it is measured according to your ability and do not force your heart to work too hard,” he said in a Webinar Health Talk about the prevention and management of coronary heart disease (CHD) recently.
Arief reminded that young age is not a guarantee that we can live healthy. So do a healthy lifestyle by avoiding unhealthy habits such as unhealthy food, stress, and smoking.
“Do a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly and maintaining a balanced nutritional intake,” he said.
