Civitavecchia – It happened at the San Paolo hospital – General director Di Cicco: “We firmly condemn this cowardly and unacceptable gesture”
Civitavecchia – We receive and publish – This morning, in the triage room of the San Paolo hospital in Civitavecchia, the emergency room doctor was attacked by a man who punched him in the face. A nurse was also involved in the scuffle.
For the doctor the prognosis is 6 days.
The Carabinieri mobile radio patrol intervened on the spot and the man was reported at large.
“On behalf of ASL Roma 4 – declared the acting general director, Dr. Roberto Di Cicco – I express my most sincere solidarity and closeness to the doctor attacked during the night in the emergency room of San Paolo. As a company we will form a civil party to protect our operator. We strongly condemn this cowardly and unacceptable gesture, which not only hurts the person involved, but profoundly affects the entire healthcare community.
We trust that the competent authorities will shed full light on the incident and act with the utmost severity. Together, we must reiterate that acts of violence against those who protect public health will never be tolerated. Medical and nursing staff work daily with commitment and sacrifice to guarantee care and assistance to citizens, and cannot and must not be subjected to violence or intimidation. We will continue to support our staff and work to ensure a safe and respectful working environment for all.”
