Doctor Against Corona Vaccine Dies Due to COVID-19

Jakarta

A well-known doctor who opposed the corona virus vaccine and was known as a supporter of conspiracy theories died after contracting Covid-19.

Stephen Karanja, thus the doctor’s name, died on Thursday (29/04) while being treated at a private hospital in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

During his lifetime, Dr Karanja was chairman of the Kenyan Catholic doctors’ association. In this organization, he is described as a “true warrior doctor”.

He disagreed with vaccine injections to suppress the Covid-19 pandemic, saying “vaccinations are absolutely unnecessary”.

The spread of Covid-19, according to him, could be suppressed “simply by wearing a mask”.

Media in Kenya reported that Dr Karanja, a gynecologist, accused the government of “not releasing accurate information regarding the Covid-19 infection”.

He claimed that Covid-19 could be overcome with “ordinary and cheap drugs that are available in the market”.

He also said that Covid-19 “can be combated by inhaling water vapor”.

He said the government “could prevent people from getting sick, could suppress budgets, and even prevent deaths if they took advantage of preventive drugs against Covid-19”.

But this claim was quickly debunked by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Kenya (KCCB).

In a statement, the KCCB said, “We want to emphasize that the Covid-19 vaccine is very important to protect all of us … apart [protokol kesehatan] such as washing hands, keeping your distance, and wearing a mask. “

They called Dr Karanaja’s claims “false and causing uncertainty”.

In a video circulating on social media in late March, Dr Karanja criticized the implementation lockdown or lockdown in five regions in Kenya.

He said the lockdown was “medically ineffective”.

“When you quarantine people, you are not really dealing with the disease. It is useless, dangerous and must be removed as soon as possible,” Dr Karanja was quoted as saying by the Kenyan media.

Dr Karanja is also known as a supporter of the conspiracy theory that the Covid-19 pandemic was “deliberately spread as a means of reducing population numbers”.
