APresident Thomas Weikert is running for re-election at the General Assembly of the German Olympic Sports Confederation on Saturday (9:00) in Baden-Baden. In the course of a leadership crisis surrounding his predecessor Alfons Hörmann, the 61-year-old lawyer from Limburg/Lahn took over the top position in December 2021, initially for one year.
A strategic process for developing a concept for an application for the Olympic and Paralympic Games should also be decided at the DOB meeting. Other key issues are the planned new reform of competitive sport, the anchoring of human rights in the statutes of the DOB and a resolution to protect against violence in sport.
