A lot of exercise, a strict diet that is difficult to maintain and a good dose of persistence: losing weight is a challenge, but you don’t have to do it too hard to lose some kilos.
You can lose weight by simply eating fewer calories than you burn, but apparently you don’t need to diet or exercise for that, according to an article from the NRC. You have to be a little more patient. “New research shows that gentle exercise, such as… to walk or a little running can be a good way to lose fat. Without a special diet, but over a long period of months,” he reports NRC.
Continue for at least three years
Say you lose ten kilos if you exercise regularly at a light to moderate intensity. Then, according to the research, there is a good chance that those kilos will still be lost if you keep it up for three years (or longer). And of course that idea is not so crazy, because it often produces good results if you change your lifestyle while losing weight to make it easier to maintain.
In other words: you get more from this than from a strict diet (or heavy exercise) where you initially lose a lot of weight, but in the end (maybe not) be able to maintain it. Plus, intense exercise can make you hungrier, making it tempting to eat that unhealthy snack.
Take fat
The key to success, according to research, is digesting fat. “With light to moderately intense exercise, the body learns to digest relatively more fat in relation to carbohydrates, the other important source of energy. The appetite for food decreases over time and the subjects in the studies that followed the method also felt full faster when they ate something,” the newspaper writes.
Good news for people who don’t want or can’t do intense exercise.
