Toto Cutugno represents one of the most famous Italian artists globally, a career studded with many successes that have allowed him to reach the pinnacle of notoriety. The man made himself loved both as an interpreter and as a producer and writer of songs that are the history of our local music. The singer, in spite of his 15 participations in the Sanremo Festival, he managed to triumph only once (in 1980 with the single Solo noi). The famous piece, Italianin 1983 he only obtained the fifth position a Sanremo, which could leave everyone in disbelief as the song later became an authentic “anthem” for our nation. More than 30 years ago it took first place in the’Eurovision Song Contest from Zagreb thanks to the song Together. A very important hit that led him to become the second Italian artist to climb the highest step in Europe after Gigliola Cinquetti. Last year, it is well known, the Maneskin also made it, making Italy triumph in the international singing competition for the third time.
Returning to Toto Cutugno, however, in addition to enjoying a great deal of success in his land, he is one of the best known Italian artists elsewhere. He has also written songs for very famous French and Spanish artists, including: Miguel Bosè, Joe Dassin, Christian Castri, Johnny Hallyday, Claude François, Hervé Vilard and Michel Sardou. But perhaps not many know a particular background to his life. Probably many remember that in 1971 Cutugno got married with Carla, however some might escape that in 1988 their union was put to the test due to the coming into the world of Nicolò, the son of a man born of an extramarital affair. Her wife, after a stormy period, decided to keep her child at home, effectively forgiving her husband’s “fling”.
Toto, for his part, during an interview some time ago for the microphones of TV, Smiles and Songs, wanted to explain the whole situation: “I had a child with another woman when I was already married. Carla could have kicked me out of the house, but she didn’t “. The singer also emphasized an important side in the upbringing of the young son: “I deserve zero in hypocrisy, because I can’t manage not to say what I think. Instead I give myself 10 in loyalty. I have always taught my son Nico to live like this, without disrespecting anyone, to be honest. If I lie Nico gets angry, but I really like lies “.
