The acting governor of West Flanders, Anne Martens, asks to postpone unnecessary excursions to the Coast and to follow all safety measures if one comes to the Coast. Anne Martens thus joins her Antwerp colleague Cathy Berx who advises the inhabitants of Antwerp to postpone all unnecessary journeys across provincial borders.

Good weather is expected this weekend, so the Belgian Coast is expecting a lot of people. Usually, many Antwerp tourists also go to the sea. But the provincial governors of Antwerp and West Flanders call for caution.
The governor of Antwerp, Cathy Berx, had previously said that people who do not absolutely have to be outside the borders of the province would do better to postpone their excursions. There is no real ban on non-essential movement, but Cathy Berx has taken many other strict measures to better control infections in Antwerp like a curfew.
Acting Governor of West Flanders Anne Martens now joins Cathy Berx’s position. “Beware of unnecessary movements and if you come to the sea, follow the rules very strictly,” she warned.
