Do you miss the cinema? These e-cars are being transformed into a private drive-in cinema

With their odorless auxiliary heating and Schuko socket, electric cars are perfect mobile drive-in cinemas.

EFAHRER / MORITZ DIETHELMWith their odorless auxiliary heating and Schuko socket, electric cars are perfect mobile drive-in cinemas.

Cinemas will remain closed at least until the end of March. Even after that, it remains complicated for moviegoers. EFAHRER.com shows how you can turn certain e-cars into a private home theater with a few tricks.

At the beginning of March there was the first corona easing for individual industries. The current Corona regulation prohibits cinema openings until the end of month a, the situation is still unclear. If you still don’t want to do without the big screen, you previously had to set up a home theater or visit one of the few German drive-in cinemas.

Electric car drivers have it easier. For example, anyone who drives a Honda e, Mazda MX30 or Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV can look forward to household sockets in the car. These e-cars have enough power in the battery to operate all kinds of household appliances when they are stationary – or a projector.

EFAHRER.com did the drive-in cinema test with the Honda e – Here’s how:

Simply connect your projector to the household socket of your electric car using the normal cable, put the cable outside through the slightly open window and place the projector on the roof or the hood of the electric car.

Then connect your laptop or smartphone to the projector as usual. Finally, connect your laptop or smartphone to the sound system of your electric car via Bluetooth. If you want to make a drive-in cinema for more than one car, you can use a Bluetooth-to-radio adapter.

With the projector on the electric car, the world becomes your screen. During the EFAHRER.com test, however, there was sleet. The home theater test had to take place in the editorial underground car park.

EFAHRER.com has already operated heavy tools with the Schuko socket in the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid. You can see how well this works and the entire test of the Outlander here – in the video.
